Office Safety DSE 2003 helps meet your responsibilities under the Display Screen Equipment Regulations by providing staff with proper DSE training and a feedback mechanism. It achieves time and cost savings relative to traditional methods of DSE training and assessment and fits into the demands of the working day.

DSE users learn to apply good practice and to understand its benefits and the risks of ignoring guidance. DSE 2003's content includes:
  • posture
  • keyboard and mouse use
  • dazzle, glare and reflections
  • familiarity with software
  • organising space
  • eye to screen distance and angle (PCs and laptops)
  • eyesight tests
  • noise
  • Developed in association with Mersey Fire and Safety, DSE 2003 uses layman's language to help staff understand the principles behind the Regulations and their own duty to help their employer achieve compliance.

DSE 2003 makes staff competent to undertake a DSE self assessment at the workstation, provides them with the means to do so and tests their knowledge of good practice guidance. If an incorrect test answer is given, the correct answer is automatically explained. DSE 2003 takes approx. 45 minutes to complete.

It is recognised that the effectiveness of traditional approaches is limited by the availability of competent assessors when required and by difficulties in handling the volume of assessment data. That is why HSE/LAC guidance provides for DSE assessment records to be held electronically.

With the intranet version's date and time-stamped charts, tables and follow-up action log, DSE 2003's administration system makes it easy to focus on priorities - organisation-wide, departmental and for the individual.
Analysis uses only the very latest data for each member of staff. Prevent-IT! stores other data, including results generated by former employees, securely in the archive for retrieval, should a claim arise in later years.

DSE 2003 helps meet your health and safety responsibilities to computer users by delegating training and making it accessible where it is needed, at the workstation. It simplifies the generation and management of DSE assessment results. By date and time stamping all records and follow-up comments, it creates a robust audit trail, which demonstrates the action you have taken to comply with the Display Screen Equipment Regulations.

The Display Screen Equipment Regulations training, assessment and test module is also available without the requirement for an intranet delivery system.
